Calcium is a major mineral essential for healthy bones and teeth. There are several minerals known to be essential to the human body and which must be obtained from food. Does Increased Calcium Help You Lose Weight?

Calcium is an important mineral known primarily for its role in bone metabolism. In addition, calcium is the best-selling mineral water supplement on the market. Among the reasons for the purchase include:

� Positive effects on bone density and osteoporosis weaker
� To improve the body composition

Lipolysis is the reduction of body fat and lipogeneis is the body of the mechanism of storing fat. The theory is low calcium intakes inhibit lipolysis and increases lipogenesis. High calcium intake was reported to increase lipolysis and decrease in lipogenesis. If this theory is correct, calcium supplementation is a good step towards improving the body composition.

So far in the research, it appears that higher calcium intake, which are usually associated with lower-energy diet, may cause Weight loss.

Some researchers reported that low-fat dairy has the best effects on weight loss, but a 2003 study indicates that the source of calcium is not as important as the total amount of calcium intake.

A meta 2006 Analysis by R. Trowman, Ph.D, reported no effect of calcium on weight loss. At the end of the study, Dr. Trowman reported no relationship between increased intake of calcium, either through supplements or milk products, and weight loss. They also reviewed the literature on calcium and weight loss. G. Barba, Ph.D, P. Russo, Ph.D., explained that the available data are not final for a relationship between high calcium and /or dairy intake and decreased body weight. They stressed the need for further research into the dairy company impact on the health, outside the obesity.

Based on the existing research, it looks as though some studies show positive effects of increased calcium intake on weight loss in overweight or obese individuals, but a number of the randomised controlled trials yet. No magic formula has been discovered, but it may be individuals, the better to the effects on calcium metabolism during the fat content reduced calorie intake compared to others.
